Pansy Doily

MATERIALS:
Shaded yellow and purple pansies surrounding a white daisy center make this a lovely, colorful doily. Finished size measures approximately 12 inches in diameter. American Thread Company's Famous "Puritan" Mercerized Crochet Cotton in the following amounts and colors: one 250 yard ball of white, one 175 yard ball each of shaded yellow, shaded purple and green. Use a number 7 steel crochet hook.
Pansy: With shaded yellow, ch 7, join to form ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 3, 2 dc in ring, * ch 7, 3 dc in ring, repeat from * 3 times, ch 7, join in third st of ch.
Rnd 2: Sl st to next dc, * 16 dc in next lp, sc in center dc of next dc group, repeat from * twice, ch 4, 12 dtr (to make dtr: thread over 3 times) with ch 1 between each dtr in next lp, ch 1, 2 tr with ch 1 between in same lp, ch 1, 2 dc with ch 1 between in same lp, sc in center dc of next dc group, 2 dc with ch 1 between in next lp, ch 1, 2 tr with ch 1 between in same lp, ch 1, 12 dtr with ch 1 between each dtr in same lp, ch 4, join in sl st. Fasten off.
Work 7 more yellow pansies in same manner. Work 8 pansies with shaded purple in same manner.
Center: With white ch 5, join to form ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 5, dc in ring, * ch 2, dc in ring, repeat from * 5 times, ch 2, join in third st of ch, drop thread.
Rnd 2: Join shaded yellow in ch 2 lp and work 3 sc over same lp, * ch 1, 3 sc over next lp, repeat from * around, ch 1, join, cut thread.
Rnd 3: Pick up white and pull through ch 1 sp, ch 3, 2 dc in same sp, * ch 3, 3 dc in next ch 1 sp, repeat from * around, ch 3, join, drop thread.
Rnd 4: Join shaded yellow in same st, sc in same sp, sc in each of next 2 dc, * 3 sc in next lp, sc in each of next 3 dc, repeat from * around ending with 3 sc over last lp, join. Fasten off.
Rnd 5: Pick up white and pull thread through center st above 3 dc group, ch 6, dc in same sp, * sk 2 sc, (dc, ch 3, dc) in next sc, repeat from * around, join in third st of ch.
Rnd 6: Sl st into lp, ch 3, 4 dc in same sp, * 5 dc in next lp, repeat from * around, join.
Rnd 7: Ch 3, dc in each of next 4 dc, * ch 1, dc in each of next 5 dc, repeat from * around, ch 1, join.
Rnd 8: Ch 3, dc in each of next 4 dc, ch 2, dc in each of next 5 dc, repeat from * around, ch 2, join.
Rnd 9: Same as last rnd but having ch 3 between each dc group.
Rnd 10: Same as last rnd but having ch 4 between each dc group.
Rnd 11: Ch 3, dc in each of next 4 dc, * ch 3, dc in next lp, ch 3, dc in each of the next 5 dc, repeat from * around ending to correspond, join.
Rnd 12: Ch 3, dc in each of next 4 dc, * (ch 2, dc in next lp) twice, ch 2, dc in each of next 5 dc, repeat from * around ending to correspond, join.
Rnd 13: Sl st to next dc, ch 3, dc in each of next 2 dc, * (ch 2, dc in next lp) 3 times, ch 2, sk 1 dc, dc in each of next 3 dc, repeat from * around ending to correspond, join.
Rnd 14: Sl st to next dc, ch 5, dc in next lp, * (ch 2, dc in next lp) 3 times, ch 2, sk 1 dc, dc in next dc, ch 2, dc in next lp, repeat from * around ending to correspond, ch 2, join in third st of ch.

Rnd 16: Ch 3, ** 2 dc in next lp, dc in next dc, 2 dc in next lp, dc in next dc, * ch 3, sk 1 lp, dc in next dc, 2 dc in next lp, dc in next dc, repeat from * twice, 2 dc in next lp, dc in next dc, ch 3, sk 1 lp, dc in next dc, repeat from ** around ending to correspond, ch 3, join. Fasten off.
Rnd 17: Join green in last lp made (joining lp), ch 3, dc in same sp, ch 3, 2 dc cluster st in same sp (to make 2 dc cluster st: keeping last lp of each dc on hook, 2 dc in same sp, thread over and pull through all lps at once), ** ch 3, sk 3 dc, sc in next dc, ch 3, 2 dc cluster st in next lp, ch 3, 2 dc cluster st in same sp (cluster st shell), * ch 4, cluster st shell in next lp, repeat from * once, ch 3, sk 3 dc, sc in next dc, ch 3, cluster st shell in next lp, repeat from ** around ending to correspond.
Rnd 18: Sl st to center of cluster st shell, sc in same sp, * ch 4, sl st in top of sc for p, ch 3, pick up a shadcd yellow pansy, sl st in fourth dc of first small petal to right of center small petal, ch 4, sc in center of next cluster st shell of doily, sl st in center of next small petal of same pansy, sc in same shell of doily, ch 4, sl st in fourth dc of next small petal of same pansy, ch 3, sc in next shell of doily, ch 4, sl st in top of sc just made for p, ch 3, pick up a shadcd purple pansy, sl st in fourth dc of first small petal to right of center small petal, ch 4, sc in center of next shell of doily, sl st in center of next small petal of same pansy, sc in same sp of doily, ch 4, sl st in fourth dc of next small petal of same pansy, ch 3, sc in next shell of doily, repeat from * around until all pansies are joined. Fasten off.
Edge: Join white in ch 4 lp of first large petal of any pansy, * ch 3, sc in next ch 1 sp, repeat from * 14 times, sc in sc between petals, sc in next ch 1 sp of next large petal of same pansy, * ch 3, sc in next ch 1 sp, repeat from * 13 times, ch 3, sc in ch 4 lp of same large petal, sc in first ch 4 lp of next pansy and continue in same manner around, join. Fasten off. ning 4 petals, sc in same loop of 10th Round, 2 sc in each of the next 4 loops, sc in next loop, then repeat from beginning all around, join. cut thread.
