MATERIALS:
J. & P. COATS BEST SIX CORD MER-CERIZED CROCHET, Art. A.104, Size 30: 1 ball each of No. 181 Shaded Lt. Yellows, No. 8 Blue and No. 48 Hunter's Green
or
Clark's Biq Ball Mercerized Crochet, Art. B.34, Size 30: 1 ball each of No. 181 Shaded Lt. Yellows, No. 8 Blue and No. 48 Hunter's Green; or J. & P. Coats Tatting-Crochet, Art. A.21, Size 70: 3 balls of No. 8 Blue and 1 ball each of No. 181 Shaded Lt. Yellows and No. 48 Hunter's Green.
Milwards Steel Crochet Hook No. 10 for Size 30, or No. 14 for Size 70. Size 30—Doily measures 15 1/4 inches in diameter.
Size 70—Doily measures 13 inches in diameter.
FIRST MOTIF: Starting at center with Shaded Lt. Yellows, ch 10. Join with sl st to form ring.
1st Rnd: Ch 4, 27 tr in ring. Join with sl st to top of ch-4.
2nd Rnd: Sc in same place as sl st, * ch 5, skip 1 tr, sc in next tr. Repeat from * around. Join and break off.
3rd Rnd: Attach Blue to any loop, ch 4, 8 tr in same loop, * ch 13, skip 1 loop, 9 tr in next loop. Repeat from * around. Join.
4th Rnd: Ch 4, holding back on hook the last loop of each tr, make tr in each tr across group, thread over and draw through all loops on hook (cluster made), * ch 9, sc in next loop, ch 9, cluster over next tr group. Repeat from * around. Join and break off.
SECOND MOTIF: Work as for First Motif until 3 rnds have been completed.
4th Rnd: Ch 4, cluster over next tr group, ch 4, sl st in corresponding loop on First Motif, ch 4, sc in next loop on Second Motif, ch 4, sl st in corresponding loop on First Motif, ch 4, cluster over next tr group on Second Motif. Complete rnd (no more joinings). Make 6 more motifs, joining to First Motif and previous motif as Second Motif was joined to First Motif.
Now work in rnds as follows:
1st Rnd: Attach Hunter's Green to first free loop on any motif, ch 4, make a 2-tr cluster in same loop, * (ch 9, sc in next loop) 6 times; ch 9, make a 3-tr cluster in each of next 2 loops. Repeat from * around. Join.
2nd Rnd: Sl st to center of next loop, ch 4, 2-tr cluster in same loop, * ch 10, 3-tr cluster in next loop, (ch 10, sc in next loop) 3 times; ch 10, cluster in next loop, ch 10, cluster in each of next 2 loops. Repeat from * around. Join. 3rd Rnd: SI st to center of next loop, ch 4, 2-tr cluster in same loop, * ch 10, cluster in next loop, (ch 10, sc in next loop) twice; ch 10, cluster in next loop, ch 10, cluster in each of next 2 loops. Repeat from * around. Join and break off.
RUFFLE: 1st Rnd: Attach Blue to any sp, 15 sc in each sp around. Join.
2nd Rnd: Ch 9, * skip 2 sc, tr in next sc, ch 5. Repeat from * around. Join to 4th ch of ch-9.
3rd Rnd: Sl st to center of next sp, ch 10, * tr in next sp, ch 6. Repeat from * around. Join to 4th ch of starting chain.
4th, 5th and 6th Rnds: Work as for last rnd, having 1 ch more on starting ch and between tr's on each rnd. Break off at end of 6th rnd.
7th Rnd: Attach Yellow to any sp, ch 14, * tr in next sp, ch 10. Repeat from * around. Join and break off. Starch lightly and press.
