Pineapple Points Doily Pattern

MATERIALS: J. & P. Coats 1 ball of White or Ecru, or Clark's O.N.T.2 balls of White or Ecru, or Big Ball: J. & P. Coats 1 ball of White, or Clark's Big Ball Three Cord Mercerized Crochet, Size 50: 1 ball of White.
Milward's Steel Crochet Hook No. 12. Doily measures 7½ inches in diameter.
1st rnd: Starting at center, ch 10. 1st rnd: Tr in 10th ch from hook, (ch 5, tr in same ch) 6 times; ch 2, skip 3 ch, dc in next ch.
2nd rnd: 4 sc over bar formed by dc, 7 sc in each sp around, ending with 3 sc in first sp. Join to first sc.
3rd rnd: Ch 14, * skip 6 sc, tr in next sc, ch 10. Repeat from * around. Join to 4th ch of ch-14.
4th rnd: Sc in same place as sl st, * 13 sc in next sp, sc in next tr. Repeat from * around. Join to first sc.
5th rnd: Sl st in next sc, sc in same sc, sc in next 12 sc, * ch 5, skip 1 sc, sc in next 13 sc. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 2, dc in first sc.
6th rnd: Ch 5, * sc in next 11 sc, ch 5, sc in next loop, ch 5, skip 1 sc. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 2, dc in dc.
7th rnd: Ch 5, sc in next loop, * ch 5, skip 1 sc, sc in next 9 sc, (ch 5, sc in next loop) twice. Repeat from * around. Join as before.
8th to 11th rnds: Work as for 7th rnd, having 1 loop more between sc groups and 2 sc less in each sc group on each rnd.
12th rnd: Turn work, sl st in last sp made. Ch 1, turn. Sc in same place as sl st, * sc in next loop, (ch 5, sc in next loop) 6 times. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 2, dc in first sc.
13th rnd: * Ch 5, sc in next loop. Repeat from * around. Join as before.
14th rnd: * Ch 5, in next loop make tr, ch 5 and tr; (ch 5, sc in next loop) 4 times. Repeat from * around. Join as before.
15th rnd: * Ch 5, skip next sp, 10 tr in next sp, ch 5, skip next sp, sc in next loop, (ch 5, sc in next loop) 3 times. Repeat from * around. Join as before.
16th rnd: * Ch 5, (tr in next tr, ch 1) 9 times; tr in next tr, ch 5, skip next sp, sc in next loop, (ch 5, sc in next loop) twice. Repeat from * around. Join as before.
17th rnd: * Ch 5, skip next sp, (sc in next sp, ch 3) 8 times; sc in next sp, ch 5, skip next sp, sc in next loop, ch 5, sc in next loop. Repeat from * around. Join as before.
18th rnd: Sc in loop formed by ch-2 and dc, * ch 7, skip next sp, (sc in next loop, ch 3) 7 times; sc in next loop, ch 7, skip next sp, sc in next loop. Repeat from * around. Join with sl st to first sc.
19th rnd: Ch 11, * skip next sp, (sc in next loop, ch 3) 6 times; sc in next loop, ch 7, skip next sp, in next sc make tr, ch 5 and tr; ch 7. Repeat from * around, ending with tr in first sc, ch 2, skip 3 ch, dc in next ch.
20th rnd: Ch 11, * skip next sp, (sc in next loop, ch 3) 5 times; sc in next loop, ch 7, skip next sp, in next sp make (tr, ch 5) twice and tr; ch 7. Repeat from * around, ending with tr, ch 5 and tr in last sp, ch 2, skip 3 ch, dc in next ch.
21st rnd: Ch 9, tr in sp formed by ch 2 and dc, ch 5, * skip next sp, (sc in next loop, ch 3) 4 times; sc in next loop, ch 5, in each of the next 2 sps make (tr, ch 5) 3 times. Repeat from * around, ending with (tr, ch 5) twice in last sp. Join with sl st to 4th ch of ch-9.
Now work pineapples individually as follows:
FIRST PINEAPPLE
1st row: Sl st in sp, ch 9, tr in same sp, ch 7, skip next sp, (sc in next loop, ch 3) 3 times; sc in next loop, ch 7, skip next sp, in next sp make tr, ch 5 and tr. Ch 9, turn.
2nd row: Tr in first sp, ch 7, skip next sp, (sc in next loop, ch 3) twice; sc in next loop, ch 7, skip next sp, in next sp make tr, ch 5 and tr. Ch 9, turn.
3rd row: Tr in first sp, ch 7, skip next sp, sc in next loop, ch 3, sc in next loop, ch 7, skip next sp, in next sp make tr, ch 5 and tr. Ch 9, turn. 4th row: Tr in first sp, ch 7, skip next sp, sc in next loop, ch 7, skip next sp, tr in next sp, ch 2, sl st in first sp, ch 2, tr in same sp as last tr. Break off.
NEXT PINEAPPLE
1st row: Skip 3 sps on 21st rnd, attach thread to next sp, ch 9, tr in same sp, ch 7, skip next sp, (sc in next loop, ch 3) 3 times; sc in next loop, ch 7, skip next sp, in next sp make tr, ch 7 and tr. Ch 9, turn. Complete as for First Pineapple. Complete remaining pineapples the same way. EDGING ... Attach thread to first free sp on any pineapple, sc closely around. Join and break off. Starch lightly and press.
