Pansy Garland Doily

MATERIALS:
J. & P. COATS "KNIT-CRO-SHEEN," Art. A.64: 1 ball each of No. 1 White, No. 18-A Shaded Purples and No. 19 Shaded Yellows.
Milwards Steel Crochet Hook No. 7
Each Doily measures 14 1/2 inches
DOILY: Starting at center with White, ch 10. Join with sl st to form ring.
1st Rnd: Ch 1, make 16 sc in ring. Join with sl st to first sc.
NOTE: Hereafter do not join rnds unless otherwise stated.
2nd Rnd: Ch 1, sc in joining, (ch 5, skip next sc, sc in next sc) 7 times; ch 5, skip last sc.
3rd Rnd: (Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sp, ch 5) 8 times - 8 spokes started.
Next 14 Rnd: (Skip first sc of spoke, sc in each remaining sc of spoke, 2 sc in next sp, ch 5) 8 times - 17 sc in each spoke on 17th rnd.
18th Rnd: (Skip first sc of spoke, sc in next 15 sc, ch 5, sc in next sp, ch 5) 8 times.
19th Rnd: * Skip first sc of spoke, sc in each sc to within last sc of spoke, (ch 5, sc in next loop) twice; ch 5. Repeat from * 7 times more.
Next 4 Rnd: Work as for 19th rnd, having one ch-5 loop more between spokes on each rnd.
24th Rnd: Work as for previous rnd, ending with ch 2, dc in center sc of first spoke to form last loop.
25th and 26th Rnd: Ch 1, sc in loop just formed, * ch 5, sc in next loop. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 2, dc in first sc.
27th and 28th Rnd: Ch 1, sc in loop just formed, * ch 6, sc in next loop. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 3, dc in first sc. Lay Doily aside.
Pansy (Make 8 of each color) Starting at center, ch 6. Join to form ring.
1st Rnd: Ch 3, in ring make 2 dc, ch 7 and (3 dc, ch 7) 4 times. Join to top of ch-3.
2nd Rnd: Ch 3, skip joining, (skip next dc, dc in next dc, 15 tr in next sp, dc in next dc) twice; skip next dc, dc in next dc, 15 tr in next sp, * dc in next dc, skip next dc, dc in next dc, ch 1, in next sp make (tr, ch 1) twice, (d tr, ch 1) twice; (tr tr, ch 1) 5 times; (d tr, ch 1) twice and (tr, ch 1) twice -large petal. Repeat from * once more. Join to top of ch-3. Break off and fasten.

Join Pansies to Doily as follows:
1st joining Rnd: Work as for first joining rnd of Rose Doily until the first cluster and first picot have been completed, * in next loop make cluster, ch 4 and sc; ch 4, with wrong side of Pansy facing you, sl st in 3rd tr of the second 15-tr petal of any Pansy, (ch 3, sc in next loop of Doily) twice; ch 3, skip next 9 sts of same petal of Pansy, sl st in next st, ch 4, in next loop of Doily make sc, ch 4, and cluster; make a picot. Repeat from * around, alternating the colors of Pansies and ending with ch 4. Join. Break off and fasten.
2nd joining Rnd: Attach White to first ch-1 sp of first large petal of any Pansy, ch 4, * (dc in next ch-1 sp, ch 1) 26 times; dc in next sp, d tr in next picot of Doily, dc in first ch-1 sp of first large petal of next Pansy, ch 1. Repeat from * around, ending with d tr in last picot of Doily. Join to 3rd ch of ch-4. Break off and fasten. Press lightly.
