The Double Ruffle Doily Pattern

Steel crochet hook No. 12
Doily measures approximately 12 1/2 inches in diameter without ruffle.
1st Round: Chain (ch) 10, join to form a ring, ch 4, double crochet (dc) in ring, * ch 1, dc in ring, repeat from * 11 times, ch 1, join in 3rd stitch (st) of ch (14 dc).
2nd Round: Ch 3, dc in same space, * ch 2, 2 dc in next dc, repeat from * all around, ch 2, join in 3rd st of ch.
3rd Round: Ch 3, dc in next dc, 1 dc in next st of ch, * ch 2, 1 dc in each of the next 2 dc, 1 dc in next st of ch, repeat from * all around, ch 2, join.
4th Round: Ch 3, 1 dc in each of the next 2 dc, dc in next st of ch, * ch 2, 1 dc in each of the next 3 dc, dc in next st of ch, repeat from * all around, ch 2, join.
Repeat the 4th round having 1 more dc in each dc section until there are 8 dc in each section.
9th Round: Ch 3, 1 dc in each of the next 6 dc, * pull up 1/8 inch loop on hook, thread over and pull through loop, single crochet (sc) in single loop of st (single knot st), pull up Vs inch loop on hook, thread over and pull through loop, sc in single loop of st (double knot st), 1 dc in each of the next 7 dc of next dc group, repeat from * all around ending with double knot st, join.
10th Round: Ch 3, 1 dc in each of the next 5 dc, * ch 4, sc in center of next double knot st, ch 4, 1 dc in each of the next 6 dc, repeat from * all around ending with ch 4, sc in center of next double knot st, ch 4, join.
11th Round: Ch 3, 1 dc in each of the next 4 dc, * ch 5, sc in next sc, ch 5, 1 dc in each of the next 5 dc, repeat from * all around ending to correspond, ch 5, join.
12th Round: Ch 3, 1 dc in each of the next 3 dc, * ch 5, sc in next loop, double knot st, sc in next loop, ch 5, 1 dc in each of the next 4 dc, repeat from * all around ending to correspond, ch 5, join.

18th Round: Ch 9, dc in next loop, * ch 6, dc in next loop, repeat from * all around, ch 6, join in 3rd st of ch.
19th Round: Ch 9, dc in next dc, * ch 6, dc in next dc, repeat from * all around, ch 6, join in 3rd st of ch.
20th Round: Sl st to center of next loop, * ch 7, sc in next loop, repeat from * all around ending with ch 3, treble crochet (tr c) in last sl st.
21st Round: Ch 10, dc in next loop, * ch 7, dc in next loop, repeat from * all around, ending with ch 7, join in 3rd st of ch.

4th Round: * Work a double knot st pulling loop up 1/4 inch, sc in next loop, repeat from * all around.

Inside Ruffle: Attach thread in any mesh of 18th round and work same as outside ruffle having 196 loops in 1st round but working only 2 rounds of 8 ch loops and 3 rounds of double knot sts.
Work last 2 rounds same as last 2 rounds of outside ruffle.
