Calla Lily Doily

MATERIALS:
American Thread company. The Famous "Puritan" crochet cotton, Article 40, 2 balls White 1 ball Kelly Green and "Star" Six Strand Embroidery Cotton, Article 501 skein Yellow.
Steel crochet hook No. 7
Doily Measures about 18 inches in diameter.
1st Round: With White ch 5, join to form a ring, Ch 4, dc in ring, * ch 1, dc in ring, repeat from * 13 times, ch 1, join in 3rd st of ch.
(Sixteen dc's in ring total counting ch 4 at beg.)
2nd Round: * Ch 3, sc in next dc, repeat from * all around, ch 3, join.
(Sixteen ch 3 loops total).
3rd Round: Sl st into loop, sc in same space, * ch 4, sc in next loop, repeat from * all around, ch 4, join in 1st sc.
(Sixteen ch 4 loops total).
4th Round: Sl st into loop, sc in same space, * ch 5, sc in next loop, repeat from * all around ending with ch 3 dc in 1st sc (this brings thread in position for next round).
(Sixteen ch 5 loops total).
5th Round: * Ch 6, sc in next loop, repeat from * all around ending with ch 3, dc in dc.
(Sixteen ch 6 loops total).
6th Round: * Ch 7, sc in next loop, repeat from *all around ending with ch 7, sl st in dc, cut thread.
(Sixteen ch 7 loops total).

30th Round: Attach green in center of any shell and work same as 28th Round, but ch 14 between shells.
31st Round: Sl st to center of shell, ch 3, dc in same space, ch 3, 2 dc in same space, * ch 7, sc over the lps of the 2 previous rounds, ch 7, shell in next shell, repeat from * all around. End to correspond join, cut thread.
Calla Lily
1st Round: With white ch 5, join to form ring. Ch 3, 9 dc in ring, join in 3rd st of ch.
2nd Round: Ch 3, 2 dc in same space, 3 dc in each of the next 2 dc, * ch 1, 1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc in next dc, repeat from * 4 times, 3 dc in each of the next 2 dc, join.
3rd Round: Ch 3, 2 dc in next dc, * 1 dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc, repeat from * twice, ch 2, skip 1 dc, dc in next ch 1 space, * ch 2, dc in next ch 1 space, repeat from * 8 times, ch 2, skip 1 dc, * 2 dc in next dc, 1 dc in next dc, repeat from * twice, join.
4th Round: Ch 3, dc in same space, * 1 dc in each of the next 2 dc, 2 dc in next dc, repeat from * twice, 1 dc in each of the next 2 dc, * 3 dc in next ch 2 space, dc in next dc, repeat from * 4 times, 3 tr in next ch 2 space, * dc in next dc, 3 dc in next ch 2 space, repeat from * 4 times, * 1 dc in each of the next 2 dc, 2 dc in next dc, repeat from * twice, join. ch 2 space.
5th Round: ch 3, 1 dc in each of the next 35 dc, tr in next tr, 2 tr in next tr, ch 3, sl st in top of last tr for picot, 2 tr in same space, 1 tr in next tr, 1 dc in each remaining dc, join, cut thread.

Pistil
1st Round: With yellow crochet cotton, ch 8, dc in 4th st from hook, 1 dc in each of the next 4 sts of ch, ch 3, turn.
2nd Round: 1 dc in each dc, ch 3, turn. Repeat the last Round twice.
Next Round: decrease 1 dc at beginning and end of Round (to decrease: *thread over hook, insert in next st, pull through and work off 2 lps, repeat from * once, thread over and work off all lps), ch 3, turn.
Next Round: 1 dc on each of the next 3 sts keeping last lp of each dc on hook, thread over and work off all lps, cut thread leaving a long end.

Use needle and sew the 2 sides together having the point at top. Sew in position to center of lily having point at point of lily and sewing the point to top of 4th Round. With inside of lily toward you fold right hand side at lower edge over the pistil then fold left hand side over the opposite way and sew to hold in position. Work 7 more lilies in same way.

Starching: Pin center and outer edge of doily in position according to size. Pull folds of ruffle in position. Place (1) lily in every 4th fold of ruffle as in photo and leave until thoroughly dry. Lilies can be sewn in position if desired.
