Wild Rose Doily

MATERIALS:
Daisy Mercerized Crochet Cotton, size 20, was used to crochet this piece. You will need rose, green, yellow and white; use a size 9 or 10 steel crochet hook. One medallion measures about 3 1/2 inches. The completed piece is about 12 inches across.
Abbreviations: Ch (chain); sc (single crochet); tr (treble)—thread over twice, work off 2 lps at a time; dc (double crochet); st (stitch); sl st (slip stitch); sk (skip); rnd (round); tr tr (triple treble)—thread over four times, work off 2 lps at a time; dtr (double treble) — thread over three times, work off 2 lps at a time.
Medallion:
In white, ch 7, join with sl st in first ch to form a ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 1, 12 sc in ring.
Rnd 2: Ch 5, dc in next st, * ch 2, dc in next st, repeat from * around, join last ch 2 in third ch of ch 5 first made (12 sps).
Rnd 3: Ch 7, dc in dc, * ch 4, dc in next dc, repeat from * around, join last ch 4 to third st of first ch 7 made.
Rnd 4: Dc in next dc, * ch 11, dc in dc, repeat from * around, joining last ch 11 to third st of first ch 14.
Make six more and crochet medallions together while working last (4th) rnd.
Edge:
Row 1: * Sk first 3 sts of lp, make 3 dc, ch 7, 3 dc, ch 2, repeat from * around, si st over to ch lp.
Rnd 2: * Make (3 dc, ch 7, 3 dc) over ch 7 lp, ch 1, dc over the ch 2 between groups, ch 1, repeat from *. In last free lp of medallion, make 3 dc, ch 4, 3 dc in first lp of next medallion.
Row 3: In green, make 9 sc over lp and sc in each dc and ch st. Work small leaves as follows: Ch 10, sc in 4th st, hdc, 4 dc, hdc, sc (make an sc between each leaf). Work large leaves thus: Ch 13, sc in 4th st, hdc, 7 dc, hdc, sc. Continue around with the sc edge and the groups of leaves.
Rose: For center work in yellow, ch 10, sl st in first ch to form a ring.
Rnd 1: Make 15 sc in ring, work loosely, fasten off.
Rnd 2: Join pink, insert hook in back lp of sts and work petals thus: * ch 8, tr tr in same st with ch, dtr in same st, 2 tr in next st, dtr and tr tr in next st, ch 8, sl st at base of tr tr and in next st, repeat from * around. Make six in all and place as shown in photograph.
Bud: Ch 7, make a 3 tr tr cluster in first St and work off together. There is a bud on each side of a rose.
